Today, it is my privilege to host this week’s Rave Reviews Book Club SPOTLIGHT AUTHOR, Gwen Plano! Author of the riveting story of her own abuse at the hands of her spouse, LETTING GO INTO PERFECT LOVE, Gwen’s superb writing style will grab you and hold you captive! Do check out this marvellous read!
I’ve been asked how I launched my book. When my book was published, I had just moved to a small Midwestern town where few knew me. Because of this, I choose not to have a traditional launch (i.e., speaking engagements at local book stores). Instead I launched through Twitter and word of mouth.
Though I was new to Twitter at the time, I soon discovered a large community of writers, artists and humanitarians through this social medium. And, several friends I met on Twitter introduced me to the Rave Reviews Book Club: https://ravereviewsbynonniejules.wordpress.com/
I joined the club, excited by the values it endorses: generosity, respect, honesty, reciprocity and so much more. Through its membership, I found an amazing neighborhood of supportive and creative thinkers who help one another through retweets and reviews. My tweet might reach 5,000 or so followers, but with the club’s retweets the coverage can easily become 50,000.
Though I have not met the members of #RRBC in person, I feel as though I have. Led by the visionary Nonnie Jules (herself an author), this club provides needed guidance and support to Indie writers, who often do not understand the challenges of marketing their masterpiece. And if that were not enough, importantly the club also sets a standard of professionalism that helps guide the Twitter community at large.
Because of my membership in #RRBC, I now read several books a month and provide reviews to Amazon, Goodreads and other venues. I’ve grown in my respect for committed writers, for their hard work and their steadfastness, and I am deeply grateful to Nonnie Jules and her team for their leadership.
If you are a writer, this club is a must!
